The Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme (the Scheme) aims to preserve and put historic buildings into good and innovative use; transform them into unique cultural landmarks; promote active public participation in the conservation of historic buildings; and create job opportunities in particular at the district level.
The Government will identify government-owned historic buildings which are considered suitable for adaptive re-use for inclusion in the Scheme. Non-profit-making organisations are eligible to submit proposals for using selected historic buildings to provide services or business in the form of SEs.
Financial support under the Scheme includes one-off grant to cover the cost for major renovation to the buildings, in part or in full; nominal rental for the buildings; and one-off grant to meet the starting costs and operating deficits (if any) of the SE for a maximum of the first two years of operation at a ceiling of $5 million, on the prerequisite that the SE proposal is projected to become self-sustainable after this initial period.
